Good to know
How Facebook data behaves#
Recommendations instead of stars #
Facebook reviews are recommendations: recommend or don’t recommend. Only older reviews have a 1–5 star rating, and text is optional.
Pages restricted to logged-in users cannot be collected #
Some Facebook pages, and their reviews, are only visible to people who are logged in, often because of the page’s age, country or other visibility settings. If you can see the reviews, it may only be because you are logged in to your personal account. Try the same link in a private or incognito window. Zembra only collects reviews that are publicly available without logging in, so a restricted page returns 0 reviews. The page owner has to open the page to everyone before reviews can be collected.
Fewer reviews than the count shown #
The review (recommendation) count Facebook displays often includes hidden or private reviews, so it can be much higher than the number of reviews anyone can actually see. One page showed 569 reviews, but only 101 were visible on the page. Zembra only collects publicly visible reviews. As a result, the “native” count reported by Facebook and the number of reviews Zembra can return will often differ, and that is expected. Also check that you monitor the right page: a business can have several Facebook pages or vanity URLs, and the one you entered may not be the one with the reviews.
Facebook API status #
Live availability and response times of the Facebook integration, checked continuously.
